Featherdown Farm
A relaxed, documentary-style wedding at the beautiful Feather Down Farm in Gloucestershire. Jay and Sarah loved that this was a non-traditional venue, giving them total freedom to dress the farm exactly how they wanted—no rules, no constraints, just a unique countryside celebration. They wanted exactly the same style for their wedding photography...

What I love about my job most is the variation. Not one wedding is identical. Dynamics vary greatly with people and venues and I thrive on that. In fact it gives me a buzz which is where I get my energy from. Hence I’m always raring to go, meet new people, discover new angles or places and love photographing the fun vibe at a party. Put me anywhere on the planet and I’ll guarantee that I’ll be searching that unique angle with my sense of humour and smile.

John & Sarah, came to me as they didn’t really see themselves getting married conventionally, but they wanted their family and friends to recognise and celebrate their coming together by hosting a party. They wanted photographs to record their special day, but they didn’t want me to take over as such, just really to fit in with their family and friends and capture the goings on naturally. No problem there, more than happy to oblige!

So John & Sarah’s wedding was to take place at Featherdown Farm, nestled just outside of Gloucester. They’d hired the farm so they could decorate it as they wished with no constraints of a normal wedding venue. I first met up with John who was having minor dickie bow alterations…

A Final Word

Congratulations Sarah & Jay — a proper celebration, done your way. Thank you Jon & Sarah for letting me capture your special day. 🥂

A Relaxed Gloucestershire Farm Wedding

Their wedding day unfolded exactly as planned — casually, organically and with plenty of laughter. I first caught up with Jay as final outfit details were being tweaked, while friends and family drifted in, catching up and settling into the space.

From there, everything flowed naturally. Conversations overlapped, moments happened simultaneously, and the farm setting encouraged people to relax and be themselves. For documentary wedding photography, it doesn’t get much better.
