Are You Getting Married At Kingscote Barn?
When it comes to Cotswold barn wedding venues, Kingscote Barn is right up there. Set in the rolling Gloucestershire countryside, with views stretching across the valley, it’s a venue that delivers in every season.
Kingscote Barn offers that perfect mix of rustic charm and incredible views. The Cotswold stone barn itself is beautiful, but it’s the surroundings that really make it special.
- Rolling countryside views across the valley
- Stunning sunsets (when we’re lucky!)
- A warm, characterful barn interior
It’s a venue that works just as well for laid-back summer weddings as it does for cosy winter celebrations.
Recommended Wedding Photographer at Kingscote Barn.
I’m incredibly proud to be a recommended wedding photographer at Kingscote Barn. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph many weddings here — in all seasons — from sun-soaked summer celebrations out on the lawn to cosy winter weddings with a completely different feel.
That experience means I understand how the venue naturally flows, where the best light falls throughout the day, and how to work seamlessly within the space without interrupting things. It also means couples can relax, knowing I’m completely at ease and able to blend in from the moment I arrive.
That said, no two weddings here ever feel the same. Different people, different energy, different stories — and that’s exactly what keeps it exciting every time I return.
My approach here, as always, is to blend in and observe.
No over-direction. No awkward posing. Just letting the day unfold and capturing it as it actually felt.
Being recommended at Kingscote Barn isn’t something taken lightly. The Kingscote Barn team only suggest suppliers who consistently deliver both great images and a brilliant experience from start to finish. It’s a relationship built on trust — and one I never take for granted.
Kingscote Barn Wedding Inspiration
This blog is structured in chapters — from getting ready through to the first dance — to showcase my documentary wedding photography approach and how each part of the day fits naturally into the overall story.
Chapter 1: Getting Ready.
Most bridal prep at Kingscote Barn happens in the Bridal Suite — a big, beautiful space with loads of light and plenty of room to settle into the morning. I tend to turn up roughly 1.5hr/2hrs, just as the makeup and hair is being finished.
What’s great about photographing weddings at Kingscote Barn, is that I can flick between both parties, capturing final preparations so I don’t miss a trick! What I love the most about this time of the day is being apart and capturing the mix of emotions that natural arise.

Chapter 2: The Ceremony
Ceremonies at Kingscote Barn offer two equally beautiful options. You can choose an indoor ceremony inside the rustic Cotswold stone barn — warm, characterful and perfect in any weather — or an outdoor ceremony overlooking the rolling Gloucestershire countryside, where the views speak for themselves. Both settings create a relaxed, intimate feel, with all attention naturally focused on the moment.

Chapter 3:
While Kingscote Barn offers two beautiful options for your wedding ceremony — indoors in the barn or outside overlooking the countryside — there’s actually a third. One Tree Hill. Traditionally used for more private moments or vows, from 2026 onwards couples will also have the option to hold their full wedding ceremony up there, surrounded by some of the best views in the Cotswolds.

Chapter 4: Canapés & Fizz
The wedding reception (aka canapés & fizz) at Kingscote Barn is that perfect window of time to relax, soak it all in, and be congratulated by your closest family and friends. It’s where the energy lifts — drinks flowing, hugs all round, and conversations picking up pace.
I take a step back here, photographing everything in a fly-on-the-wall, candid way, so you can stay fully in the moment and enjoy what you’ve just done. I’ll also hold off on group photos for as long as possible (more on that shortly…).
It’s also the perfect time to make the day your own — whether that’s live music, a magician working the crowd, alpacas wandering about (yes, it happens), or simply letting everyone relax and enjoy the setting. It’s your day after all… so enjoy it.

Chapter 5: What About Group Photos?
We’ll absolutely do them.
I just keep things tight and efficient — around 8–10 combinations is usually perfect. Enough to cover the important people without turning the courtyard into a queue. I keep it light, quick and (dare I say) even a bit of fun… and it shouldn’t take more than 15–20 minutes.
The rest of the day is then yours to actually enjoy.
Kingscote Barn gives us loads of flexibility too — from the courtyard and terraces to the rose garden & The Linhay (great if we need a bit of shelter), as well as the lake and even One Tree Hill. Plenty of options without overcomplicating things.

Chapter 6: When Do You Do Our Couple Pictures At Kingscote Barn?
I usually suggest slipping away for a few couple photos about 15–20 minutes before the wedding breakfast. It’s a chance to pause, take a breath, and spend a bit of time together away from the crowd. We keep it short — no more than 10–15 minutes — nothing forced, just a relaxed wander and a few natural moments. I’d always rather head back out later in the day when the light softens/darkens to use many of the night time features at Kingscote Barn.

Chapter 7: Wedding Breakfast Set Up

Chapter 8: Wedding Breakfast.
The wedding breakfast is always a highlight for me. By this point, guests are relaxed, a few drinks have been had, and the atmosphere really starts to build. While many photographers sit down at this stage, I tend to stay on my feet — at least until you’re actually eating — so I can continue capturing the in-between moments, reactions, and laughter that really tell the story of the day.

Chapter 9: Wedding Speeches.
Speeches are always one of the most anticipated parts of the day. Whether you choose to have them before the wedding breakfast to get them out of the way, or afterwards once everyone’s relaxed and settled, they always bring a great mix of emotion and laughter.
From nervous starts to confident finishes, it’s a moment where stories are shared, personalities shine, and I’m there capturing all the reactions as they unfold naturally.

Chapter 9: Evening Couple Pics & A Possible Sunset…
In the evening, we’ll usually sneak off again for a few more couple photos — often heading a little further afield and, if we’re lucky, chasing the sunset. At Tewkesbury Park, that can mean jumping in a golf cart and exploring the grounds properly. It’s relaxed, unhurried, and a chance to make the most of that softer light while you take it all in together.

Chapter 10: Sparklers, Cut The Cake & First Dance
The final part of the day (for me at least!) is usually the cake cutting and first dance. It’s a great way to kick off the evening celebrations — a couple of key moments before the dancefloor properly gets going. I’ll capture it all naturally, and if you’d like me to stay on for the party, I’m always happy to stick around and document the chaos on the dancefloor too. 💃🏻🥳🕺🏾
