The Matara Centre, Gloucestershire
The Matara Centre is one of those wedding venues that feels quietly magical. Tucked away in the Gloucestershire countryside, it’s surprisingly easy to miss — but once you arrive, it quickly draws you in. Winding paths, hidden corners and thoughtfully designed spaces give the venue a calm, almost other‑worldly feel that’s unlike anywhere else in the Cotswolds. It’s a venue that encourages curiosity. Guests wander, explore and discover new spaces throughout the day, which naturally creates moments of connection and interaction — perfect conditions for relaxed, candid wedding photography.

A Matara Centre Wedding – Charlotte & Robin

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings is the variety. Every venue brings a different energy, and The Matara Centre has a particularly special one. It attracts couples who want something meaningful, personal and a little different — and Charlotte & Robin were no exception.

Although their wedding took place on a cold, overcast day, you’d never have known it from the atmosphere. As friends and family gathered, the excitement and warmth filled the space, spilling out into every corner of the venue.

Charlotte & Robin were both drawn to the Matara Centre’s unique character — its sense of calm, its natural flow, and the way it feels more like a retreat than a traditional wedding venue. That feeling shaped the day. Nothing was rushed. People lingered, talked, laughed and settled into the experience.

I began the day with Charlotte and her close group as they put the final touches to getting ready. Those quiet moments — anticipation, nerves, shared smiles — are always some of the most meaningful, and at Matara they felt especially grounded.

From there, the wedding unfolded naturally. My role was simply to observe and document what was happening, allowing moments to happen without interruption from myself.

Thank you Charlotte and Robin in trusting me to photograph your wedding. 🥂

"Absolutely amazing wedding photographer! Professional and totally blended in with wedding guests! The photos that Ben managed to capture completely sum up the fun and beauty of the day- He’s a very clever man. If you’re hesitating booking him, rest assured, you won’t regret having him there on your big day. It’s the best money we spent! Ben went way and beyond to ensure that he got the shots that we had requested and his sense of humour and good nature made light of some of the more stressful parts of the day. Ben was a wonderful pleasure to have around."
